Apart from the mystery masks and incredible voices, the cryptic clues on âThe Masked Singerâ are what keep the show interesting.
On Tuesday night former âThe X Factorâ winner Isaiah Firebrace was unmasked as The Wizard, and his clues throughout the series held a special place in his heart, paying homage to his Indigenous heritage.
Isaiah was asked about the recurring themes of his clues after he revealed his identity on stage.
âYou have a lot of references to earth. What does that mean?â asked one of the judges.
âMy Aboriginal heritage. Yes, Iâm very, very proud of that,â he said, adding, heâs âconnected to the landâ.
Isaiah, whose father is a Yorta Yorta man and mother a Gunditjmara woman, also mentioned where he grew up in Northern Victoria, saying, âshoutout to my hometown, Echuca-Moamaâ.
In episode two, one of Isaiahâs clues referred to his connection to the earth.
âI feel connected to the earth, grounded, but power isnât in everyone. But when you feel it you can use it to help others,â he said.
In episode four he said: âMy greatest success is not in the land of my birth. I have always travelled for my growth. I have sacrificed much in my search for wisdom, nothing of value comes easy.â
Then in episode six last night, he again made mention of the earth before his elimination.
âWith my arms open wide I feel I can embrace all of humanity, like you I am a child of the Earth. Our combined history making us who we are, and I shall make history again tonight,â he said.
After winning âThe X Factorâ in 2016, the singer represented Australia at Eurovision in 2017 and said at the time he hoped to inspire other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth through his music.
âItâs definitely something I want to do is to inspire young Indigenous teenagers, and not only Indigenous, non-Indigenous kids as well,â he told SBS.
âJust to never give up on your dreams no matter how young you are. I think age is just a number.â
While heâs the latest celebrity to be eliminated from âThe Masked Singerâ, there are still eight more masked stars in the competition.
The semi-finals of âThe Masked Singerâ begin on Monday at 7:30pm on Channel 10.
