Remove Oil Stains On Cement With Wood Ashes

We had never heard this one before!

As the temperature drops, we’ve been blasting our fireplaces to keep warm. Usually, once the fire has died out, we throw out the wood ashes. But the Farmer’s Almanac found a really great way to use these remains to

First, sprinkle the ashes on the stain. Then, rub them into the spot with a cloth. Finally, just sweep up the particles and the stain should be gone. If not, repeat as necessary.

This is just one of a few surprising ways to use wood ashes. You can also repel slugs and clean glass with them, according to the Almanac. Just be cautious when dealing with the particles and make sure you’re storing them properly.
