Ricky Gervais Offends With Transphobic Caitlyn Jenner Jokes At The Golden Globes

No f**ks given.

'Twas the night of the Golden Globes, and all through the auditorium, celebrities were trembling in their seats, anxiously wondering if host Ricky Gervais would come after them.

It was a record five seconds until Gervais started off his monologue by telling the audience to "shut up," so he could begin the show.

"You disgusting, pill-popping, sexual deviant scum," said Gervais, calling Sean Penn a "snitch" (a reference to his interview with El Chapo) before starting in on Caitlyn Jenner.

"I've changed," said Gervais. "Not as much as Bruce Jenner, obviously."

Watch part of the rest of the offensive monologue below:

Was anyone surprised? No. Was everyone offended? Yes.

Before the show even started, Gervais made headlines for a pretty NSFW tweet:

Gervais was bound to offend someone, which is probably why Golden Globes producers were begging him to come back.

"I really did say no," said Gervais in a Jan. 6 interview with Ellen DeGeneres. "But they said all the right things. They said I can say what I want again."

In previous years, Gervais took aim at Scientology, called out Charlie Sheen's antics and read aloud moments from Robert Downey Jr.'s troubled past.

"When you hire Ricky Gervais, you expect the unexpected," then president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Philip Berk told The Hollywood Reporter in 2011. Like it or not, we expect him to host many more Globes to come.
