Summernats Organisers 'Distressed' After Ute Fall Death

A 30-year-old died following an incident at the Canberra festival.

Summernats organisers have expressed their condolences after a man died in hospital following a devastating fall from the back of a ute at the Canberra car festival.

The 30-year-old victim died in hospital as a result of the incident, which happened about 4pm Thursday.

The ABC reports that the man fell off the back of a ute at Exhibition Park.

"The Summernats team were obviously very sad and distressed to hear that," organiser Any Lopez said.

"We express our condolences to the family, not just of the poor young man who passed away but also to the friends and other people who would have been with him at the time. It would have been a very distressing situation for them."

The ACT Police collision investigation and reconstruction team are investigating and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
