A man who scaled skyrise Trump Tower has been hauled to safety and if a YouTube video is anything to go by, he's not a protester but a fan of presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The man began climbing the tower in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon using suction cups but his plan to scale the 58 floors was foiled by police who knocked out a window above him and pulled him through.
In knocking out the window, however, police sent a falling plane of glass perilously close to the man.
A video has emerged on YouTube of a man purporting to be the climber, who said he wanted to meet with Trump.
"I"m an independent researcher seeking a private audience with you to discuss an important matter," the man said on an account named 'Leven Thumps'.
"I guarantee it is in your interests to honour this request.
"Believe me if my purpose was not significant I would not risk my life pursuing it."
Police had closed several busy streets near the building and inflated a landing pad below in case he fell.
It's not yet clear if the man has been arrested.
