A body found in the stairwell of a Westfield shopping centre in Sydney's Bondi Junction on Friday is believed to be a 71-year-old man missing since early January.

The man was found in the early hours of Friday, more than two weeks after he was reported missing after he missed a pre-arranged meeting with a family member.

While not formally identified, the body is believed to be that of a 71-year-old man reported Friday January 6, Police said in a statement.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.
