The brother of the accused Bourke Street killer has spoken for the first time, saying "no one could've predicted" the alleged attack which killed five people and injured dozens.
Angelo Gargasoulas was allegedly stabbed by brother Dimitrious on the morning of January 20. Later that afternoon, Dimitrious was arrested after allegedly driving his car through the Melbourne CBD and mowing down dozens of pedestrians. Five people, including a three-month-old baby boy and a 10-year-old girl, were killed in the Bourke Street incident.
Dimitrious Gargasoulas has been charged with five counts of murder.
The Age reported Angelo was still in hospital recovering from stab wounds when he posted a message to his Facebook page on Sunday. Angelo was admitted to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition but he said "it's all looking good".
"To all the families of the victims involved in last Friday's tragedy, my heart goes out to you and for all those still fighting in hospital, my thoughts are with you and your recovery," Angelo posted on Facebook.
"Still in disbelief, the realism of it all has yet to fully sink in, stay strong Melbourne!"
Angelo said he was on the mend after his injuries, and thanked supporters.
"I'm fortunate enough to still have my life and the support I have received is unheard of!" he wrote.
"I thank everyone involved in making this an easier time for everyone else involved, and my family.
As for me, I still got some recovery time to do, and it's all looking good."
Around a dozen people remain in hospital following the Bourke Street incident, The Age reported.
Dimitrious remains in custody, awaiting trial.
