Police have set up a crime scene in Sydney's west after a man turned up to hospital with bullet wounds.

Police are investigating after a man turned up to a hospital in Sydney's west riddled with bullet wounds.

Police said the injured 20-year-old arrived at Westmead Hospital "with multiple gunshot wounds" late Friday night.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition, authorities said in a statement.

The man's arrival at the hospital occurred after police earlier on Friday night were called to Bobart Street, Parramatta, after reports of gunfire in the area.

Local officers attended and located several bullet casings on the road.

A crime scene was established and police are investigating. No arrests have been made.
