A man involved in a 12-hour stand-off with police atop a Sydney high-rise block of flats is in police custody, charged with assaulting his girlfriend whose body was found in a laneway below.
He now waits in a jail cell, refused bail, to see if further charges will be laid.
The body of Hee Kyung Choi, 34, was found in the lane off Brown Street, in the heart of the busy Chatswood shopping and business district, early on Monday by a passer-by.
Her 37-year-old boyfriend, June Oh Seo, then spent over 12 hours perched on a perspex roof above a balcony on the 27th floor of the residential building.
His girlfriend's body remained below, covered by a police tent, until Seo finally climbed back inside the high-rise at 7pm.
It's alleged in court documents that Seo assaulted Ms Choi about 4.30am on Monday, two hours before her body was discovered.
Seo was charged on Tuesday with one count of domestic violence-related assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He then appeared at Hornsby Local Court where the magistrate indicated further charges are possible.
Seo is expected to appear via video link when his matter returns to court on October 20.
