Would you like to know how to vacuum your pool? There are many reasons why you need to keep your home pool clean. First, a clean and healthy pool appeals to all members of your family irrespective of their age. It also protects the health of everyone, your kids and the aged.

If you will ever need insurance for your pool, the most important factor which a prospective insurance company will check is the cleanliness and health of your pool. Also, a clean and efficient pool means fewer repair and maintenance cost to you. Let me share with you some of the methods you can use to vacuum your pool.

METHOD 1 - How to vacuum your pool manually

For you to do this, you will require a telescopic pole and a vacuum head. You should ensure that your swimming pool is suitable for swimming pool cleaning services. If you will not do this, your pool might be damaged beyond repair, and you will not be able to complete the process. You can follow the following steps if you want to clean your pool manually.

# Step1 – Connect the telescopic pole to the vacuum head and the hose. Ensure you have fixed them well to ensure you do not lose the vacuum head.

# Step 2- Lower the vacuum head slowly and gently.

# Step 3 – Keep the hose into the pool and ensure the air is removed from the hose. You should do this when it reaches the bottom. If you do not do this then connect the hose to the pump when there is air inside, the swimming pool pump is likely to burn.

# Step 4 – After the air has been removed from the hose, you can pass the hose across the door of the skimmer and connect it to the vacuum port. This process should be done carefully to avoid damaging your equipment.

# Step 5- You can turn on the vacuum head and allow the suction process to start.

# Step 6 – You should ensure that the vacuum inlet is the only line open to the pump. This is to prevent particles and other elements which are outside to be sucked by the pump.

# Step 7- You should vacuum your pool the same way you clean your carpet. Start from the shallow end and move slowly onto the deep end. You should use slow, long sweeping strokes for the cleaning process.

If you follow the steps keenly, your pool will be clean. You should rinse the equipment with fresh water after you are through.

METHOD 2 - Using pool vacuum

A swimming pool crawler is a pool vacuum which moves along the floor of your pool automatically. You can use it in both in-ground and above-ground pools. It saves you a lot of time as you do not need to clean the pool manually (read about this best above ground pool vacuums reviews to get one for you). The most challenging part is on how to connect it. After you have set it up right, it can easily run on itself. Here is step by step guide to follow.

Cleaning Preparations

Ø Ensure that the pump basket is empty.

Ø Rinse and backwash the pump filter until it is clear.

Ø Determine the PH balance of the pool water. Pool crawlers can work differently in different levels of pool water chemicals. You should compare the results with the pool crawler’s instructions to ensure that it will not be damaged by the PH level of chemicals such as chlorine calcium and cyanuric acid which might be present in your pool water.

Ø Ensure that all suction outlets and pool’s main drain are closed, except for the one where the skimmer hose line is attached.

Ø Turn off the pool pump.

Connect the suction side cleaner

1. Remove the skimmer port basket.

2. Screw the threaded compressor adapter that is provided onto the connector at the bottom of the skimmer port.

3. Insert the automatic regulator valve inside the threaded end of the compression adaptor.

4. Connect the crawlers hose with the first section of the skimmer hose. Slide the hose float on to the hose. It should be 8 inches away from the connector where it connects with your pump hose.

5. Submerge the crawler hose which is now connected to the skimmer hose. Dip the other section of the skimmer hose then insert the male connector of the hose to the female connector and twist them to lock them together. Keep on adding crawler hose section this way.

6. Lower the suction side cleaner to the floor of your pool then wait for the hose to fill water such that it does not have air in it for it to float.

7. Connect the skimmer hose end through the opening of your pool. Slip it onto the automatic regulator valve and then twist it to lock it in place.

8. Now turn the pool pump and check the crawler for 10 minutes. It should now start to move around. Make sure the crawler is functioning properly. You can now leave it to do the cleaning.
